Yesterday afternoon - my orangey iridescent-glazed Czech vase, beaded flowers, dried flowers, on the dresser of my 30's bedroom set (painted green in a green room) and late afternoon sun from the west.

  • That is so pritty. I wish the sun shined in are home like that.

  • Ah, you are a girl after my own heart!!! You know the song that has the line,

"I spend my days in longing" ?

Well, I am not going to spend my days that way so I decorate here with things that please my eye. Long before my daughter disowned me, she quit coming home preferring visits with friends. It has been a long time since I decorated for outside eyes. I have found a unique pleasure in placing something just right and enjoying it. I have an eclectic bedroom (actually my whole house) and have a very old four-poster bed and a 30"s bureau. On the bureau I have 30's memorabilia like an ole case for body powder, a , oh, shoot, I lost the word, a perfume bottle with a bulb you squeeze to apply it, an old hand mirror and Bern's tiny book with a plaid cover with poetry inside. I also have my mother's first anniversary gift from her mother, a picture of a girl holding a lily and she has a Mona Lisa smile. Some people would call these distractions, but they keep me from sinking and whatever they are, they do the job. I think you would like this quote I read in my meditation book this morning:

Maybe one of these days I'll be able to give myself a gold star for being ordinary, and maybe one of these days I'll give myself a gold star for being extraordinary - for persisting. And maybe one day I won't need to have a star at all.

  •  Louise Woodroofe.   Your's is more beautiful, but it was something in the colour that reminded me of it. Your fantastic photograph would look amazing printed on a canvas or velvet (is there such a thing) board.  Its the best pic I've seen on Xanga in a while.
